Coping Skills for Kids was created by Janine Halloran, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts who has been working with children, teens, and their families for 20 years. She has been helping children and teens build their coping skills and social skills throughout her career in a variety of settings, including schools, mental health clinics and in her private practice.
She started Encourage Play, LLC back in 2012, with the focus of helping kids learn social skills through play. Some of the most popular posts related to coping strategies and self-regulation, so she started a website dedicated to that, which was Coping Skills for Kids. At Coping Skills for Kids, she offers coping skills to help kids manage anger, handle stress, and calm anxiety in safe and healthy ways.
She is the author of several books, including the bestselling Coping Skills for Kids Workbook, and the host of the Calm & Connected podcast. Her work has been featured in the Boston Globe, Huffington Post, and The Skimm® Newsletter. Janine lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two children.
